Atkore, The Pendleton Flood
In February of 2020, Atkore’s Pendleton, Oregon PVC pipe manufacturing plant was hit by a once-in-a-lifetime flood, prompting evacuations, highway closures and emergency declarations. Unable to avoid the floodwaters, the Pendleton plant lost everything. A year later, they’re back in production. Wanting to tell this story, they sought our help in creating a 3-5 minute piece talking about what unfolded here all while promoting the reopening and the products they offer.
We were given full responsibility in making this project happen which included pre-production, day-of production, and post-production. During pre-production, we conducted a series of pre-interviews to get to know potential subjects, asking questions and gauging personalities to see who would be a good fit for the story. From here, we scripted the piece, created a shot list, scheduled the shoot, locked in locations, and compiled day-of interview questions. When it came to production, we secured three days of filming: two days in Pendleton out at the plant and one day in Portland to interview a local contractor. All three days included filming, lighting, and sound recording. Post-production included video and sound editing, color-correction, music licensing, two rounds of revisions, and delivery of the finished product.
