Ranked Choice Voting, Measure 117
This ranked choice voting testimonial video was created as part of Oregon’s Measure 117 campaign. Working alongside a local agency, Lightbox Filmworks produced a series of testimonial-driven spots highlighting everyday Oregonians and their support for ranked-choice voting.
This particular piece follows Dan Keeley, a farmer in St. Paul, Oregon. He brings a grounded and practical perspective to the conversation, shaped by real experience rather than political rhetoric.
Explaining a Complex Idea Clearly
Shot on location at Dan’s farm, the video relies on his voice to break down how ranked-choice voting works. Through a simple and relatable analogy, he explains how Measure 117 gives voters more choice and helps ensure broader support for winning candidates.
At the same time, Dan connects the policy to everyday decision-making. As a result, the concept feels understandable and relevant rather than abstract or technical.
Centering Trust and Community Voice
The goal of this spot was clarity. Instead of leaning on campaign language, the film centers trust, familiarity, and lived experience. By focusing on a local farmer, the piece reinforces that election reform affects real people across the state.
Ultimately, the video positions ranked-choice voting as a practical, proven system rooted in community values. It reflects how clear, documentary-style storytelling can help make civic topics more accessible.
This project is part of our broader Public Interest & Civic Impact work focused on civic education, community voice, and democratic participation.
